In the year 725 Saint Corbinian founded a Benedictine monastery in Freising in the north of Munich. In 1040 beer brewing officially began at Weihenstephan. Since 1921 the name is Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan. So this is the oldest brewery of the world. Today the brewery is connected to the University for Agriculture and Brewing which belongs to the Technical University of Munich. The brewery is very old but today it is also one of the most modern. By the way on of the products is named Korbinian, double bock beer with an alcohol content of 7,4 % vol.

Great photos ... and very strong beer!
I love history and the photos are wonderful. Seems pretty common for monasteries to dabble in some kind of alcohol making. When I visited a Greek monastery, they shared their Raki with us :D
