My partner and I decided to give my family a surprise by visiting them during the Chinese New Year in Taipei. We actually made the decision 4 days before the Chinese New Year. So I was scrambling to get tickets from Seattle to Taipei. We arrived in Taipei at 6 AM on the New Year's Eve. When we rang the door bell, my cousin opened the door and then screamed, and shut the door immediately. She thought we were bad people in disguise. Then she opened the door slowly, looked closely again, and let us in. Now everyone got out of their bedrooms to see what the commotion was about. More screaming from my mom and everyone else, then we all started crying. Happy Chinese New Year indeed!!!
