Old Henrichenburg boat lift

Some month ago I published some photos from the Henrichenburg boat lift, the new lift from 1962. Today I present some photos from the old boat lift. This boat lift was opened in 1899. This lift is 67 Meters long, 8.2 Meters wide, with a draft of 2 Meters and lift it through a height of 14 Meters to the higher level. It was closed in 1962 after the new was opened. Now it is a part of the Westfälian Industrial Museum. But they could not bring this lift back into use. So we hope they keep in use the new boat lift, now part of the museum too. It will be very interesting in future times to see the the technique from today.

A candle for .......

The coming days and weeks are the days of memories, memories of people that died. This year many peple all over the world died by natural disaster. But this year many people died because they wanted to live free. They only wanted to have the right of self-determination. This candle is burning for all of them. On behalf of them I refer to the people of Burma and Tibet.
